It all started in 1926 in Fresno, when David DerHairbedian first roasted sunflower seeds in his grocery store and packaged them in individual servings for a nickel. Eventually, David's two sons joined him in marketing the seeds to other retailers, and DAVID was born.
Today, with its trademark "Eat. Spit. Be Happy." slogan, DAVID is part of ConAgra Foods' family of famous household brands, filling a niche in the growing snack business. The DAVID brand name can also be found on a number of snack foods including pumpkin seeds, toasted corn and sunflower seed kernels.
